Why heat treatment is the best flea solution in the UK
Fleas are one of the hardest household pests to eradicate because over 90% of an infestation is not the adult fleas you see — it is the eggs, larvae and pupae hidden deep in carpet fibres, rugs, sofa cushions, pet bedding and floor cracks. The pupal stage in particular is protected by a tough silk cocoon that most insecticides simply cannot penetrate, which is why traditional flea sprays so often fail and require repeat visits over several weeks.

Heat treatment works differently. By raising the temperature of the affected rooms and driving that heat down into the carpet pile with our specially designed high-volume floor fans, every life stage of the flea is destroyed at the same time. Adults, larvae, pupae and eggs cannot survive — so the infestation ends in a single day, with no chemical residue on the floors your children play on or your pets sleep on.
The benefits of chemical-free flea heat treatment
- No chemicals on your floors. Nothing is sprayed onto carpets, rugs or pet bedding — safer for pets, children and anyone with allergies or asthma.
- Kills the pupal stage. Heat penetrates the silk cocoons that protect pupae from sprays — the main reason chemical treatments fail.
- Reaches every fibre. Our floor-level fans force heat deep into the carpet pile, under furniture and into floor edges where fleas live.
- Single visit. Most flea problems are resolved in one day — not three or four return visits over a month.
- Pets back in the same night. Once the property has cooled, your home is ready for normal use with no chemical residue.
Flea infestation gallery
A visual look at how flea infestations begin on pets and spread through UK homes — and why floor-level heat treatment is the only reliable way to end them in a single visit.

Persistent scratching, biting at the base of the tail and restless behaviour are classic signs of a flea infestation on dogs. A single untreated dog can introduce hundreds of eggs into your carpets every day.

The cat flea (Ctenocephalides felis) is the species responsible for over 95% of UK household infestations — affecting both cats and dogs. Cats roam from room to room, seeding eggs across every soft surface they touch.

For every flea you see on your pet, there are roughly 95 more as eggs, larvae and pupae hidden deep in your carpet pile. This is why vacuuming and pet treatments alone never end the cycle.

Once established, fleas spread to mattresses, divans and bedroom carpets — biting humans at ankle level, especially at night. Heat treatment reaches every fibre in a single visit, ending the cycle for good.

Open the checklistHow our specially designed floor fans make the difference
Standard heat treatment uses room-level heaters and ceiling-height fans, which work well for bed bugs in mattresses and furniture — but fleas live at floor level. That is why we use a dedicated fleet of specially designed, low-profile floor fans that sit at carpet level and drive heated air horizontally across and down into the pile.
This focused airflow is what kills the pupal stage — the cocoon-protected stage that survives almost every chemical treatment on the market. It is also why a fully cleared, freshly vacuumed floor is non-negotiable: every toy, sock, slipper, basket or pet bed left on the floor creates a wind-shadow where flea pupae can survive. Clear the floors completely, and our equipment does the rest.
The five stages of a flea heat treatment visit
1. Inspection and survey
We confirm the species, identify the most heavily infested rooms (typically wherever pets sleep) and check for sensitive items.
2. Preparation check
We walk through the property with you to confirm the checklist above has been completed — particularly floor clearance and vacuuming.
3. Deployment
Industrial heaters are positioned alongside our specially designed floor fans. Wireless temperature sensors are placed at carpet level in the coolest areas of each room.
4. Ramp and dwell
Air and carpet-pile temperatures are raised to lethal levels and held until every sensor confirms target has been reached. We monitor continuously with thermal imaging.
5. Cool-down and handover
Equipment is removed, the property cools to a safe temperature, and you receive a treatment report plus aftercare guidance — including the importance of treating your pet with a vet-approved flea product on the same day.
